Hello! My name is Everest and I am a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner who is also certified in functional medicine. I work to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and expand access to care through advocacy and education. I take a holistic approach to healing and believe in the connection between the body and mind. Integrating lifestyle, diet, medicine, and other innovative technologies, I view each patient individually to help them take control of their health and improve their quality of life and wellbeing.

Helping depression, anxiety, ADHD, gut health, hormones, thyroid, and other concerns. Improving health and wellness.

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas and then obtained my B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University. Following Princeton, I worked for Teach for America as a bilingual elementary school teacher, administrator, and curriculum developer. During this time, I received my Master of Education from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. Realizing the great need for mental health services in this community, I decided to follow my passion and earned my Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner degree at Vanderbilt University. In order to better provide holistic care to my patients, I also studied functional medicine through the Institute for Functional Medicine.

In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors at the beach or in the mountains. I love to waterski, hike, cook, travel, and spend time with friends and family.

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with almost 15 years of experience. I am passionate about addressing the underlying causes of mental health symptoms and optimizing my client’s overall health and well-being. I believe in making small, practical changes that can culminate into big results. Each person is unique, and it is my goal to become a specialist on my client.

I received my Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas and am board-certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center. I have extensive experience treating a variety of mental health symptoms and diagnoses (mood disorders, psychotic disorders, personality disorders, dementia/Alzheimer’s, substance use detox/rehab/maintenance, eating disorders, PTSD). I have worked with children, teens, adults, and older folks. I am skilled in medication management and therapy. I am happy to work with individuals who favor medications as well as those who prefer nonpharmacological treatment.

In my free time, I like to take evening walks with my husband and our dog, a Bedlington Terrier named Bert. I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes. I tend to binge HGTV renovation shows. Hometown is my favorite. I am an avid fiction reader! I love mystery and fantasy books. I spend way too much money at my local bookstore and love the library.

Functional medicine is “root cause” medicine. It is is looking at the whole person as an individual to determine the underlying cause of the presenting symptoms. When applied to mental health, the functional medicine approach investigates causes of depression, anxiety, insomnia, inattention, etc. instead of just prescribing a “one-size-fits-all” medication. To do this, we must consider the entire patient, including their gut, hormones, inflammation, chronic diseases, metabolism, immunity, toxins and cellular function. Using multimodal approaches, we can then truly heal patients and improve their overall health and wellness.
